US President Trump reaffirmed ties with New Delhi while mentioning that he is very close to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The US President made the remarks during a press briefing after a bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
President Trump, during a press briefing, referred to the call he made to PM Modi on his birthday eve, saying he spoke to the Indian Prime Minister the other day and extended birthday wishes.
“I am very close to India, I am very close to the PM of India. I spoke to him the other day. I wished him a happy Birthday. We have a very good relationship,” further added President Trump.
On Wednesday, US President Trump extended birthday wishes to PM Modi amid trade tensions and negotiations. Prime Minister Modi thanked Trump for his wishes and reaffirmed support for stronger India-US ties and Ukraine peace efforts.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Like you, I am also fully committed to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.”
In response to this, President Trump took to Truth Social and wrote, “Just had a wonderful phone call with my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I wished him a very Happy Birthday! He is doing a tremendous job. Narendra: Thank you for your support on ending the War between Russia and Ukraine! President DJT.”
