US President Donald Trump has indicated that American forces could exit the ongoing conflict with Iran within weeks, stating that the United States has largely achieved its core objective of preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
Speaking at the White House, Trump suggested that operations were nearing completion, adding that sustained military strikes had significantly weakened Iran’s capabilities. He maintained that the US had met its primary goal and asserted that Iran would no longer be able to pursue nuclear weapons.
The President also suggested that the situation in Iran had undergone a major shift, claiming that the current leadership appeared more rational. He noted that ongoing operations aimed to ensure long-term disruption of Iran’s military and strategic capabilities.
While leaving open the possibility of a negotiated settlement, Trump emphasised that any agreement was not a prerequisite for withdrawal. He stated that the US would conclude operations once it was confident that Iran’s capabilities had been sufficiently diminished for the long term.
The US President described recent strikes as having caused extensive damage to Iran’s infrastructure, including missile production facilities and defence systems. He claimed that US forces had effectively dismantled key elements of Iran’s military strength, resulting in minimal resistance to American operations.
Trump highlighted the scale of impact, saying the damage would take years to rebuild and that US strikes had severely degraded Iran’s military, air defence, and communication systems. He framed the campaign as a decisive intervention, stating that the US has achieved its strategic objectives and will limit remaining operations, signalling a potential end to the conflict soon.
