Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican nominee for US president who is of Indian descent, and other campaign event attendees were allegedly threatened with death by a man who was detained and charged on Monday, according to reports.
The US Justice Department claims that 30-year-old Tyler Anderson of Dover, New Hampshire, sent two unsettling texts in response to a campaign text that advertised an upcoming event.
Anderson wrote, “Great, another opportunity for me to blow [the candidate’s] brains out!” in the first message.
“I’m going to kill everyone who attends and then f**k their corpses,” was what the second message said, according to the Justice Department.
According to an FBI affidavit, Mr. Ramaswamy’s campaign took swift action and notified the authorities of the alarming messages they had received in response to their voter notification.
Crucial information connecting Anderson to the threatening phone number was also made available by the campaign. This information, along with other data that law enforcement could access, verified Anderson’s identity and resulted in his apprehension.

Mr Ramaswamy conveyed his appreciation to law enforcement for Anderson’s prompt and effective arrest. “I’m grateful for the team that’s around us and they’ve been doing a great job in making sure that I’m kept safe,” he stated.
Anderson may be fined up to $250,000, serve up to three years of supervised release, and go to jail for up to five years.
