On Wednesday night, a horrific shooting incident in Maine left thirteen people wounded and eighteen people dead. Robert Card, the primary suspect, and the accused attacker, was discovered dead from a gunshot wound that he had self-inflicted.
“That the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, October 30, 2023,” US President Joe Biden issued the order in remembrance of the victims of the shooting incident in Maine.

All US embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities overseas, including all military installations, naval stations, and boats, will fly the American flag at half-staff.
Card’s death eased the victims’ families.
Robert Young, whose nephew Aaron and 44-year-old brother Bill perished in the shooting event in Maine, expressed comfort upon learning of Card’s passing.
As a family, it provides a feeling of closure because we can stop worrying about him hurting anyone else. Additionally, it instills a feeling of fairness in us. He’s no longer here, Young remarked.
According to accounts, Card, the shooter, had mental health problems. Card reportedly suffered from mental health problems, including voices in his head and threats to blow up the Saco National Guard Base.

Investigative authorities are working to determine the reasons for the incident in Maine in the interim. President Biden made a statement on Saturday, asking Congress to take action on the issue amid increasing calls to reform the gun culture in the US.
According to Biden, “Americans shouldn’t have to live like this.”
