Vietnam is grappling with severe impacts from Typhoon Yagi, which has resulted in at least 141 deaths and left 59 people missing, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The storm’s aftermath has been particularly devastating in several provinces, with the highest fatalities reported in Cao Bang (29), Lao Cai (45), and Yen Bai (37).

In Tuyen Quang province, local authorities confirmed that the Lo River dyke in Quyet Thang commune has collapsed due to elevated water levels, as reported by Xinhua and the Vietnam News Agency.

This breach has exacerbated the flooding situation, contributing to the widespread devastation across the region.

Flood levels on the Red River in Hanoi have exceeded the second warning level and are likely to reach the highest alert level by noon on Wednesday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The center has issued urgent warnings about exceptionally high water levels on the Thao River and rapid flooding across several other rivers.

Residents and authorities are cautioned about severe flood risks in low-lying areas along northern rivers.

Additionally, the forecast includes potential flash floods and landslides in mountainous regions, further complicating the emergency response efforts.

The center has advised the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as the situation continues to develop.
