United States Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard on Friday expressed strong support for India’s pursuit of the perpetrators behind the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 28 tourists earlier this week.
Gabbard condemned the massacre as a ‘horrific Islamist terrorist attack’ and reaffirmed America’s backing.
Taking to X, she posted, “We stand in solidarity with India in the wake of the horrific Islamist terrorist attack, targeting and killing 26 Hindus in Pahalgam. My prayers and deepest sympathies are with those who lost a loved one, PM @narendramodi, and with all the people of India. We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack.”

Her remarks came shortly after President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express sorrow and extend US support.
Meanwhile, India blamed cross-border elements for the Pahalgam terror attack.
As a result, it suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, ordered Pakistani diplomats to leave, and shut down the Wagah land border crossing.
Prime Minister Modi vowed swift action.
“India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism,” PM Modi declared.
The Resistance Front, an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the assault.
Notably, Gabbard has long-standing ties with India. During her tenure in the US House of Representatives, she co-chaired the bipartisan India Caucus and worked closely with the Modi government.
In March, she became the first Trump Cabinet member in the second term to visit India, delivering the keynote address at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.
Therefore, her latest statement further strengthens international backing for India’s counter-terrorism stance.
