US President Donald Trump has urged Tehran to quickly agree to a new nuclear arrangement, warning that the absence of a deal would lead to serious repercussions.
Addressing journalists at the White House, he emphasised, “We have to make a deal otherwise, it’s going to be very traumatic, very traumatic.”
“I don’t want that to happen, but we have to make a deal,” he further added.
The US President suggested, “I guess over the next month, something like that — shouldn’t take, I mean, it should happen quickly. They should agree very quickly.”
“If they don’t make a deal, then it’ll be a different story,” Trump said. “If the deal isn’t a very fair deal and a very good deal with Iran, then it’s going to be, I think, a very difficult time for them,” he added.
The President indicated that the situation would intensify if talks collapsed. He remarked that failing to secure an agreement would result in a markedly different and more difficult phase for Iran.
He, however, declined to clarify what further steps — referred to as ‘Phase 2’ — might involve.
His statement came shortly after a meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, which he described as constructive.
“We had a very good meeting yesterday with Bibi Netanyahu, and he understands, but it’s ultimately up to me,” Trump added.
Iran’s nuclear activities continue to generate friction in West Asia. Tensions increased after Washington withdrew from the 2015 nuclear accord during Trump’s earlier tenure. Since then, disagreements have persisted over enrichment levels and regional stability.
The latest remarks reflect a dual-track approach of sustained diplomatic engagement combined with renewed pressure on Tehran.
For India and other nations with strong economic ties to the Gulf, regional stability carries considerable importance.
India relies heavily on energy imports from West Asia and maintains a significant diaspora presence there.
Any escalation between the United States and Iran could influence global oil prices and regional security dynamics.
