Trump confirmed that the United States has deployed a significant naval force toward Iranian waters.
“As you know, we have a massive flotilla right now going over to Iran. We’ll see what happens,” he told Fox Business’ Larry Kudlow, emphasising US vigilance in the region.
The President suggested that Iran could be open to diplomatic engagement.
“I think they wanna make a deal. I think they’d be foolish if they didn’t,” he said.
He, however, underlined that any agreement must address core US concerns.
“It’s gotta be a good deal. No nuclear weapons, no missiles, no this, no that, all the different things that you want,” Trump added.
Despite signalling potential talks, Trump expressed doubts about Iran’s reliability.
“Many people think it won’t last,” he further noted.
The US President also criticised previous administrations’ handling of Iran, calling the Obama-Biden nuclear deal, “That Iran nuclear deal was one of the dumbest deals I’ve ever seen.”
Referring to prior US actions, he added, “We took out their nuclear power last time, and we’ll have to see if we take out more this time.”
Trump framed the flotilla deployment and negotiations as part of a strategy linking military readiness and economic leverage.
“I settled eight wars. Of the eight wars, at least six were settled because of tariffs,” he said, highlighting trade pressure as a tool for global negotiating power.
Iran remains central to West Asia’s security, affecting energy markets, maritime routes, and regional alliances.
India, with long-standing economic and civilisational ties to Iran, continues to monitor developments closely due to its energy dependence and strategic interests in Gulf security.
Trump’s remarks indicate a continued US stance combining military pressure with diplomatic overtures.
The coming weeks will be closely watched, as developments could influence regional stability, energy supply, and international relations.
