US President Donald Trump has said ongoing American military action against Iran is progressing successfully, claiming that Tehran’s defence capabilities have been significantly reduced.
Speaking at the White House during an event for National Small Business Week, Trump argued that the campaign was necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
The US President asserted that Iran’s military infrastructure remains largely dismantled, describing its naval, air and defence systems as no longer operational. He also suggested that Iran’s leadership structure remains severely disrupted.
Trump characterised the conflict as limited in scope but effective in achieving its aims, referring to it as a contained military engagement. He defended the operation against criticism, disputing opinion polls that indicate low public support.
Highlighting US military strength, Trump said American forces remain unmatched globally. He also pointed to the resilience of financial markets, noting that stock indices had continued to perform strongly despite the conflict.
On energy, the US President said earlier concerns about a sharp surge in oil prices had not materialised. He indicated that supply conditions were improving and suggested that prices could ease further if stability returns.
The remarks reflect Washington’s continued hardline stance, with the administration maintaining that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a central objective.
