Missing Indian Student Gurashman Singh Bhatia Found Dead Near UK Lake
The Metropolitan Police in the UK are seeking information regarding the last movements of Gurashman Singh Bhatia, a 23-year-old Indian student, whose body was discovered by police divers in a lake in Canary Wharf, east London. Bhatia had been reported missing after a night out with friends on December 14. Despite extensive efforts, including CCTV analysis, witness interviews, and water searches, his body was found in South Quay.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway stated that while there is no indication of suspicious circumstances, the investigation will be thorough. A CCTV image of Bhatia before his disappearance has been released, and the police urge anyone who saw him in the Marsh Wall area on the evening of December 14 to come forward.

Despite formal identification pending, Bhatia’s family has been informed. The tragic outcome has prompted condolences from Conway, emphasizing the unexpected nature of Bhatia’s death. The Indian student community in the UK, including the National Indian Students and Alumni Union, expressed sorrow, and prayers were requested for the departed soul.
Bhatia, pursuing an MSc in Digital Finance at Loughborough University, was remembered fondly. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa raised the case with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, emphasizing the profound loss. The incident underscores the impact of the tragedy on both the local and international communities.
