Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday vowed strict action against those responsible for the car blast in Delhi, which claimed eight lives and injured dozens.
Speaking at Changlimethang Ground in Thimphu, Bhutan, PM Modi said that Indian security agencies were working tirelessly to uncover the conspiracy behind the attack and ensure that the perpetrators ‘will not be spared’.
He said, “The horrific incident that took place in Delhi last evening has deeply saddened everyone. I understand the grief of the affected families, and the entire nation stands with them. I was in constant touch with the investigating agencies throughout the night. Our agencies will reach the root of this conspiracy. Those behind this act will be brought to justice.”
The blast occurred on Monday evening near Gate No. 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, involving a Haryana-registered vehicle.
Following the explosion, authorities placed Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai on high alert, enhancing security at public places and religious sites.
Strengthening India-Bhutan Relations
Earlier in the day, PM Modi arrived in Thimphu for a two-day visit aimed at deepening India-Bhutan relations.
Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay personally welcomed him at the airport, underscoring the close friendship between the two nations.

Echoing this sentiment, PM Tobgay also wrote, “I join the entire nation in welcoming my elder brother Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bhutan.”

Moreover, The visit coincides with celebrations marking the 70th birth anniversary of Bhutan’s Fourth King and the exposition of the Sacred Piprahwa Relics of Lord Buddha from India, a gesture symbolising the two nations’ shared spiritual and cultural heritage.
Shared Spiritual and Developmental Goals
PM Modi will offer prayers to the Holy Relics at Tashichhodzong and participate in the Global Peace Prayer Festival organised by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
Referring to this event, he said, “The exposition of the Sacred Piprahwa Relics reflects our countries’ deep-rooted civilisational and spiritual ties.”
The visit will also mark a significant milestone in India-Bhutan’s energy cooperation with the inauguration of the Punatsangchhu-II hydropower project, a major step towards sustainable development and regional energy security.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to its Neighbourhood First Policy, PM Modi said that India stands shoulder to shoulder with Bhutan in promoting peace, prosperity, and shared growth.

His strong message on the Delhi blast and his emphasis on spiritual unity in Bhutan reflect India’s resolve to protect its citizens while nurturing time-tested partnerships rooted in culture, faith, and mutual respect.
