On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument in Tashkent and described it as a symbol of the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people.
PM Modi laid a wreath at the monument alongside Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev shortly after arriving in the capital.
The two leaders viewed artworks at Yangi Uzbekistan Park showcasing the country’s culture and history.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Upon landing in Tashkent, went to lay a wreath at the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument with President Mirziyoyev. The Yangi Uzbekistan Monument reflects the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people. Glad to begin my visit by coming here.”

The Prime Minister began his two-day State Visit to Uzbekistan with a special welcome from Mirziyoyev, who personally travelled to Tashkent airport to receive him.
PM Modi thanked the Uzbek President for the gesture and said his fourth visit to Uzbekistan reflected the growing momentum in bilateral ties.
During the visit, PM Modi will likely hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev.
Discussions are expected to cover trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy, as well as the shared development goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.
PM Modi had earlier said the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership had advanced significantly in recent years. He will likely visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, highlighting the longstanding cultural and people-to-people links between the two countries.
