Supriya Sule-Led Delegation Reinforces India’s Stance On Terrorism During South Africa Visit

An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by NCP MP Supriya Sule met with South African leaders in Cape Town to reaffirm India’s firm and united stand against terrorism.

The visit forms part of India’s global outreach to raise awareness about the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, India’s measured military response.

Delegation Hold Key Discussions With South African Leadership

The delegation held key discussions with South African Deputy Minister Kenneth Morolong, conveying India’s counter-terrorism approach that holds both terrorists and their enablers accountable through swift action.

Deputy Minister Morolong acknowledged the discussion and promised to bring the matter to the South African Presidency’s attention, according to the Indian High Commission in Pretoria.

Solidarity From Democratic Alliance Leaders

Indian MPs also met with John Steenhuisen, Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Minister of Agriculture, along with other senior DA members.

The DA showed solidarity with Pahalgam victims and backed India’s fight against cross-border terrorism.

The delegation engaged with South Africa’s Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation, chaired by Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo.

Indian MPs detailed the Pahalgam attack and said Operation Sindoor was a targeted, non-escalatory response to cross-border terrorism.

The visit began with a solemn meeting hosted by P. (Les) Govender, Deputy Chairperson of South Africa’s National Council of Provinces (NCOP).

The session included a minute of silence in memory of the Pahalgam attack victims. Sule-led MPs stressed India’s zero-tolerance policy, gaining solidarity from NCOP members.

Engagement With Indian Delegation In South Africa

The delegation also met members of the Indian community in Johannesburg.

They emphasised India’s national consensus against terrorism and praised the diaspora’s strong support for eradicating terrorism.

The delegation includes BJP leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, and V Muraleedharan; Congress leaders Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma; Telugu Desam Party’s Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu; Aam Aadmi Party’s Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney; and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

After Qatar, the delegation’s South Africa furthers India’s global campaign on Operation Sindoor and its fight against Pakistan-backed terrorism.
