Sanjay Jha-Led Delegation Reaffirms India’s Anti-Terror Stand In Jakarta Talks

An All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, met with top Islamic leaders in Indonesia on Friday, reinforcing India’s uncompromising stance against terrorism and calling for global cooperation against religious extremism.

Delegation Engages With Nahdlatul Ulama Leaders

The Indian delegation met KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla, Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), and Kholili Kholil, a Committee Member of the same organisation, in Jakarta.

Nahdlatul Ulama is the world’s largest Islamic organisation, playing a significant role in shaping interfaith harmony in the region.

During the meeting, Sanjay Jha posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Honoured to meet KH Ulil Abshar Abdalla, Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board, and Mr. Kholili Kholil, Committee Member of Nahdlatul Ulama — the world’s largest Islamic organisation.”

He further emphasised the shared cultural and constitutional values between India and Indonesia, saying, “As nations bound by the values of ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ (Unity in Diversity), we called for shared voices to champion peace and justice.”

Indonesia Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack

Responding to India’s outreach, KH Ulil condemned the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

He expressed deep solidarity with India and underscored the importance of collaboration between India and Indonesia in promoting peace and economic development.

He called for the two nations, which host the world’s largest Muslim populations, to walk hand in hand for mutual prosperity and to send a strong global message against cross-border terrorism.

Delegation Highlights Role Of Pakistan In Pahalgam Attack

On Thursday, the delegation held an interaction with resident Ambassadors of about 20 friendly nations in Indonesia.

During this engagement, Indian representatives shared insights into Operation Sindoor and explained Pakistan’s involvement in the April 22 terror strike.

The delegation emphasised India’s calibrated and non-escalatory response following the attack.

They reinforced the principle that ‘terror and talks cannot go together’ and asserted, ‘blood and water cannot flow together’.

They urged support for India’s justice call, citing the UN’s April 25 statement on joint anti-terror action.

Delegation Engaged With Academia And Think Tanks

The delegation also met scholars and researchers from Indonesian think tanks and universities.

These discussions focused on strategies for regional peace, counterterrorism, and strengthening India-Indonesia relations through shared democratic values.
