Tensions between US and Iran seem to be escalating day by day with the statements of both sides’ leaders. Threatening US President Donald Trump, Iran issued a warning that any attack on Tehran will be deemed as ‘All Out War’ and will be responded strongly.
Amid the heated verbal exchanges between both nations, an IRGC commander said, “he has fingers on the trigger.” The rhetoric comes as Trump claimed a large fleet of warships is moving towards Iran.
According to The New York Times, US Aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, with three others destroyer equipped with Tomahawk missiles are deployed to Miiddle East. Additionally, the US Air Force has sent a dozen F-15E fighter jets.
Iran Prepares For ‘Worst Case Scenario’
An Iranian official said that the country is on high alert, and the military is prepared for ‘worst-case scenario.’ He asserted that a country under continuous US military pressure is bound to have all options for its defence.
The Islamic Republic saw an unprecedented protest against the ailing economy and rising inflation. Demonstration began on 28 December turned violent in many pockets of Iran, resulting in the death of thousands of civilians in a massive crackdown by the government.
Subsequently, Trump threatened Tehran for its actions against the demonstrators. However, he signalled a soft stance last week contrary to his initial threat to Iran, ‘US is locked and loaded.’
Recent statements from Trump and deployments of the US military have fuelled the situation between Washington and Tehran. Meanwhile, spokespersons of Iran arm forces threatened that any attack on the Supreme Leader would bring chaos in the whole world.
