Large-scale protests broke out in Pakistan’s Balochistan province as residents rallied against a surge in kidnappings and a worsening law and order situation.
Hundreds of citizens, traders, and political workers gathered in Panjgur town to demand immediate action from the government and security agencies.
The All Parties Citizen Action Committee of Makran (APCAM) organised the rally in response to the abduction of prominent local figure Gul Jan Rind and several other residents.
Protesters assembled at Panjg ur’s main Bismillah Chowk and marched through key roads, holding placards and banners carrying demands and strong anti-government slogans.
Senior political and religious leaders led the demonstration.
APCAM Chairman Nawab Shambay Zai, BNP leader Mir Nazir Ahmed Baloch, and National Party acting president Mujeeb Rehman spearheaded the rally.
JUI leader Hafiz Muhammad Azam Baloch and Haq Do Tehreek’s Mullah Farhad joined the leadership.
Jamaat-i-Islami’s Maulvi Noor, PML-N’s Ashraf Sagat, and PPP leader Javed Baloch also took part in leading the protest.
The speakers accused authorities of failing to protect citizens despite the presence of modern surveillance and tracking technologies. They questioned why law enforcement agencies could not trace the victim’s mobile phone or arrest the kidnappers.
The leaders demanded the safe and immediate recovery of Shah Nawaz Gul and all other abducted individuals.
Human rights concerns further intensified tensions in the region.
Earlier, Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) raised an alarm over the enforced disappearance of two civilians in Kharan district.
According to BVJ, security personnel allegedly abducted Munib Baloch, a student and shop worker, from his electrical store.
Witnesses also reported the abduction of daily wage labourer Mughfar Abid from the same location.
The rights group described these incidents as part of a recurring pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. It demanded the immediate disclosure of the victims’ whereabouts and held the state responsible for their safety.
The protests highlight rising public frustration in Balochistan. Residents increasingly accuse authorities of neglect, repression, and systemic failure to protect basic human rights.
