US President Donald Trump has defended recent US military action against Iran, saying Tehran’s armed forces had been severely weakened and claiming that Iran would never be allowed to get a nuclear weapon.
“Under my administration, we have accomplished things that other presidents have not,” Trump stated at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority conference.
“Last week, we signed a historic agreement to accomplish what no president has ever been able to accomplish before, that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon,” Trump added.
The US President also stated that Iran’s military capability has become severely compromised and Iran has no Navy today, no Air Force, no anti-aircraft capability, no radar, and virtually no manufacturing. He also claimed that Iran’s attack capabilities have drastically reduced, stating that their drone capacity dropped by 82%, missile-firing capability by 80%, and rocket launchers by 90%.
Trump stated that Iran’s leadership has suffered devastating losses, leaving no one wanting to lead the country.
As a result, Tehran is now desperately seeking to make a deal with Washington at any cost.
“Let a crazy country have a nuclear weapon, you’ll see problems as you’ve never seen before,” he warned.
Soleimani and Strait of Hormuz
Trump stated that he killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani during his first term because Soleimani was responsible for the roadside bombs that crippled American soldiers.
Calling Soleimani’s death ‘one of the biggest things that has ever happened in the Middle East’, Trump noted that Iran still has strike capabilities.
To illustrate this, the US President pointed out a recent incident near the Strait of Hormuz where the American military shot down three of four Iranian drones targeted at a ship.
Although one drone struck and damaged a ship, Trump emphasised that Iran cannot take such actions and get away with them.
These statements were part of a wide-ranging speech covering religion, immigration, the economy, and national security.
Trump noted the United States had the strongest military in the world and was using it when necessary.
“We’re once again using it to defend America’s interests and American values,” he concluded.
