President Murmu Meets Moldova Parliament Speaker During State Visit

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday visited the Parliament of Moldova, where she met Speaker Igor Grosu and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group as part of her State Visit to the country.

During the meeting, President Murmu expressed confidence that the leaders of India and Moldova would continue to build a stronger, future-oriented and mutually beneficial partnership. She was accompanied by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya and Members of Parliament Dr Dinesh Sharma and Vijay Baghel.

Earlier in the day, President Murmu paid tribute at the Stefan cel Mare si Sfant monument in Chisinau before holding bilateral talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace. She was accorded a ceremonial welcome and a guard of honour ahead of the meeting.

The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of India-Moldova relations and discussed ways to deepen cooperation.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment to expand bilateral ties and unlock new opportunities for collaboration.

President Murmu also addressed the India-Moldova Business Forum in Chisinau, inviting Moldovan businesses to explore investment and trade opportunities in India. She highlighted that India is among the world’s fastest-growing major economies and offers a transparent, predictable and investor-friendly business environment as it works towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

President Droupadi Murmu said India views trusted international partnerships as essential for achieving shared prosperity and sustainable economic growth, while reaffirming the country’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly investment climate.

First Indian President to Visit Moldova

President Murmu arrived in Chisinau earlier on Monday, becoming the first Indian President to visit Moldova. Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi received President Murmu at Chisinau International Airport.

Moldova is the first stop of the President’s three-nation tour, which will also include visits to North Macedonia and Romania.
