Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held discussions with King Harald V at the Royal Palace in Oslo, focusing on the growing collaboration between Indian and Norwegian firms across a range of sectors, especially in emerging technologies.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister extended greetings and conveyed the good wishes of the people of India to the Norwegian King, reflecting the warmth in bilateral relations.

PM Narendra Modi admired Norway’s scenic beauty and stressed that the longstanding partnership between India and Norway is becoming increasingly robust.

“He appreciated the natural beauty of Norway and underlined that the long-standing friendship between India and Norway continues to grow stronger, anchored in shared values of democracy, the rule of law, and people-centric governance,” stated the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

After the formal interaction, King Harald V hosted a luncheon in honour of the visiting Prime Minister. PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and gracious hospitality extended to him.

Earlier, the King presented him with Norway’s highest civilian distinction, the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, in recognition of his efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Speaking to the media alongside Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, PM Narendra Modi announced that India-Norway relations have been elevated to a Green Strategic Partnership. He said this new framework would bring together India’s scale, speed, and talent with Norway’s technological capabilities and capital.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the enhanced partnership would support companies from both countries in creating global solutions, particularly in sustainable and green sectors.

The visit signifies a key step towards deepening economic engagement and strengthening diplomatic relations between India and Norway.
