PM Narendra Modi Departs For Rome After Productive Norway Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his visit to Norway on Tuesday after taking part in the third India-Nordic Summit in Oslo. He subsequently boarded a flight to Rome to continue his official engagements.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Concluding a very fruitful visit to Norway. Held productive talks with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and participated in the India-Nordic Summit, where important decisions were taken to deepen cooperation in many areas. I thank the people of Norway, PM Støre and the Government of Norway for their warmth and friendship.”

During his stay, the Prime Minister engaged in talks with Norway’s leader Jonas Gahr Støre and described the interactions as meaningful and forward-looking. He acknowledged the role of the summit in advancing collaboration across diverse sectors.

PM Modi also conveyed appreciation to the Norwegian leadership and citizens for their hospitality and continued goodwill.

Key Outcome of the Summit

A key takeaway from the summit was the agreement to upgrade ties into a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership. This initiative aims to combine expertise and resources to promote sustainability and technological advancement.

“One of the most significant outcomes of today’s India-Nordic Summit is our decision to elevate our ties to a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership. This will combine innovation with scale and talent, while advancing our shared commitment towards sustainability, trusted technologies and a better future for humanity,” the Prime Minister said.

While in Oslo, PM Modi received Norway’s highest civilian honour, the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, from Harald V, marking his 32nd international recognition.

Earlier, Sweden honoured him with the Royal Order of the Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross, which marked his 31st global award.

Responding to an invitation from Giorgia Meloni, PM Modi will reach Rome later on Tuesday for an official visit.

During this leg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Sergio Mattarella and hold discussions with PM Meloni.

This visit reflects India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and expand cooperation with key global players across strategic sectors.
