PM Modi’s Malaysia Visit Begins With Ceremonial Welcome At Perdana Putra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial welcome at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya during his official visit to Malaysia, reaffirming the strong and enduring bonds between the two countries.

The welcome marked the formal commencement of the Prime Minister’s engagements and underscored the importance both sides attach to the bilateral relationship.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the development, saying India and Malaysia share close civilisational, historical and people-to-people ties, and that wide-ranging talks to further strengthen bilateral cooperation will follow.

The relationship is underpinned by centuries-old cultural links and a vibrant Indian diaspora, particularly the Tamil community.

Sharing glimpses of the ceremonial welcome on X, Prime Minister Modi said India and Malaysia are deepening a partnership rooted in trust, friendship and shared aspirations.

His remarks set the tone for the two-day visit, which includes high-level meetings, cultural interactions and outreach to the Indian community.

Earlier, PM Modi highlighted the cultural bond between the two nations after students from the Malaysia Hindu Sangam recited Tirumurai devotional songs.

He praised the Tamil community in Malaysia for preserving and promoting its heritage over the years, reflecting strong people-to-people ties.

Showcasing a warm personal rapport, Prime Minister Modi shared a car ride with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as they travelled together to a community event in Kuala Lumpur.

The gesture symbolised the close understanding between the two leaders and the friendly nature of India–Malaysia relations.

PM Modi’s visit marks a significant step in further deepening the enduring India–Malaysia partnership, guided by mutual respect, shared values and shared aspirations for the future.
