Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold extensive talks with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq on Thursday, focusing on the full spectrum of India-Oman relations.
The leaders will discuss critical areas, including trade and investment, energy cooperation, defence and security, technology, agriculture, and cultural exchanges. Both leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
As part of his visit, PM Modi will address business leaders from both countries at a forum designed to strengthen commercial and investment partnerships.
PM Modi arrived in Muscat on Wednesday for the final leg of his three-nation visit, and Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, received him at the airport.

Officials accorded the Indian Prime Minister a Guard of Honour as part of the ceremonial welcome.

At his hotel, PM Modi received an enthusiastic reception from the Indian community in Oman, with hundreds of people waving Indian flags and chanting slogans such as ‘Modi Modi’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.

He greeted community members and witnessed cultural performances during the welcome ceremony.

Significance of the Visit
This marks PM Modi’s second visit to Oman, reflecting the growing depth of the India-Oman strategic partnership.
The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. It follows Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s state visit to India in December 2023, underscoring the high-level political engagement between both countries.
Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary (Consular, Passport and Visa, Overseas Indian Affairs) at the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted that the visit would provide an opportunity for a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and allow the leaders to exchange perspectives on regional and international matters.
India and Oman share a strategic partnership, marked by robust cooperation across diverse sectors. Oman remains a key partner for India in the Gulf, collaborating closely on energy security, maritime cooperation, and regional stability.
PM Modi’s visit will further strengthen bilateral ties and boost India-Oman cooperation in the coming years.
