Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome from the Indian community at a hotel in Muscat on Wednesday. Hundreds of people waved Indian flags and chanted slogans including ‘Modi Modi’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, and ‘Vande Mataram’ as they greeted the Prime Minister.
During the reception, PM Modi interacted with members of the Indian community and witnessed cultural performances celebrating the vibrant ties between India and Oman.
Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, warmly received PM Modi upon his arrival in Muscat.
Officials accorded the Indian leader a Guard of Honour as part of a formal ceremonial welcome.
“Landed in Muscat, Oman. This is a land of enduring friendship and deep historical connections with India. This visit offers an opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration and add fresh momentum to our partnership,” PM Modi posted on X.

Strategic and Diplomatic Significance
This marks PM Modi’s second visit to Oman, underscoring the depth of the India-Oman strategic partnership.
The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations and follows Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s state visit to India in December 2023.
During his stay, PM Modi will hold comprehensive talks with Sultan Haitham on trade, investment, energy cooperation, defence, security, technology, agriculture, and cultural exchanges.
The discussions will also address regional and global issues of mutual interest.
MEA Secretary Arun Kumar Chatterjee emphasised that the visit reflects centuries-old maritime and people-to-people connections, while also providing a platform for a comprehensive review of bilateral relations.
PM Modi is expected to address business leaders from both countries to boost commercial and investment ties.
India and Oman share a robust strategic partnership, with strong cooperation in energy security, maritime collaboration, and regional stability.
PM Modi’s visit aims to further consolidate these ties and provide fresh momentum for future cooperation.
PM Modi arrived in Oman after concluding a two-day state visit to Ethiopia, where he received the ‘Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’ and engaged in extensive bilateral discussions with Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed Ali.
