Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bratislava on Sunday for a two-day State visit to Slovakia and received a warm traditional welcome upon his arrival.
Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar welcomed the Prime Minister at the Grand Hotel River Park, where he was honoured with the customary offering of bread and salt, a symbol of hospitality, friendship and goodwill in Slovak culture.
The arrival ceremony featured several cultural performances, including a traditional folk dance by a renowned children’s ensemble from the Myjava region.
The celebrated Lucnica Ensemble also welcomed the Prime Minister and performed Vande Mataram, while the Slovak musical group Mahadeva Kirtan Projekt presented a spiritual performance.

Members of the Indian diaspora gathered in large numbers to greet Prime Minister Modi and expressed enthusiasm for the historic visit.
The Ministry of External Affairs described the visit as a milestone in India-Slovakia relations and said it would further strengthen bilateral ties while creating new opportunities for partnership.

Soon after arriving, Prime Minister Modi said the visit would provide an opportunity to deepen India-Slovakia relations and explore new avenues of cooperation. He also expressed his eagerness to hold productive discussions with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993.
The visit follows a series of high-level exchanges between the two countries.
During his stay, Prime Minister Modi will meet Prime Minister Robert Fico and President Peter Pellegrini to discuss cooperation in key sectors.
The visit underscores India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Slovakia and deepening engagement with Europe.
