A deepening partnership
India and France recently marked 25 years of their strategic partnership, built on mutual trust and shared global outlooks.
The leaders’ meeting at the G7 Summit showcased their continued alignment on crucial issues such as climate change, counter-terrorism, and global security.
The dialogue also underlined both nations’ intent to collaborate further in sectors like defence, energy, and innovation.
Earlier this month, President Macron had extended France’s solidarity with India in the aftermath of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack.
On June 12, President Macron had called PM Modi, condemning the ‘cowardly’ terrorist strike and expressing France’s firm support.
He stated, “France stands firmly with India and its people in this hour of grief. France, together with its allies, will continue the fight against terrorism wherever necessary.”
The meeting with President Macron was part of a series of high-level engagements undertaken by PM Modi during the G7 Summit.
He also held discussions with leaders from the UK, South Korea, Germany, Mexico, South Africa, and Australia, reflecting India’s active global diplomacy and growing influence on the world stage.
On the same day, PM Modi also met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
In each interaction, Prime Minister Modi stressed deepening cooperation across trade, security, technology, and innovation.
Strengthening global partnerships
India’s participation in the G7 and its outreach to global leaders like President Macron demonstrate its proactive engagement in shaping international agendas.
From terrorism to sustainable development and economic partnerships, the PM Modi government continues to forge strong bilateral relations with major democracies, with France remaining a key ally in this endeavour.
As India and France celebrate 25 years of strategic ties, the meeting between PM Modi and President Macron at the G7 adds momentum to this enduring relationship.
With shared values and goals, the two nations are poised to work together even more closely on global challenges and opportunities.
