Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with a special cultural presentation upon his arrival in Bratislava, where members of The Mahadeva Kirtan Project performed devotional hymns and Sanskrit recitations.

At the conclusion of the performance, PM Modi acknowledged the artists with applause and offered the greeting, ‘Om Shanti’.

Posting on X, PM Modi lauded the group for fostering cultural understanding between the two nations. He remarked that their dedication to Indian spiritual traditions, Sanskrit chants, and devotional practices reflects the deep-rooted cultural affinity shared by India and Slovakia.

PM Modi also congratulated Marek Zilinec and the ensemble for their contribution to promoting Indian heritage abroad. He noted that such gestures demonstrate the close bonds between the people of both countries and further reinforce the friendship between India and Slovakia.

As part of the reception ceremony, Slovak hosts welcomed PM Modi with the traditional offering of bread and salt, a long-standing symbol of hospitality and goodwill in Slovakia.

During the visit, the Prime Minister also attended a performance by Kopaniciarik, a folk ensemble from the Myjava region. He commended the artists and observed that traditional folk performances play a vital role in preserving cultural identity and historical heritage.

PM Modi arrived in Bratislava for a landmark two-day State visit, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to travel to Slovakia since its independence in 1993.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold discussions with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and meet Slovak President Peter Pellegrini during his visit.

The two countries aim to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, automobile manufacturing, and railway development, while exploring new opportunities to deepen their strategic and economic partnership.
