
PM Narendra Modi continued his Argentina visit on a high note, paying tributes to iconic global figures and deepening India’s cultural and diplomatic outreach.
After concluding high-level bilateral talks with President Javier Milei, PM Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, and General Jose de San Martin in the capital city of Buenos Aires.
Honouring Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy
Prime Minister Modi visited the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Buenos Aires and offered floral tributes, reaffirming India’s global message of peace and non-violence.
“Paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in Buenos Aires. His timeless vision and noble ideals will always guide humanity. Inspired by him, we reiterate our commitment to build a just and compassionate world,” he wrote on social media platform X.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal echoed the sentiment, posting, “Bapu’s legacy remains an inspiration for many across the world.”
PM Modi also paid homage to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, recognising his influence on Argentina’s intellectual circles during his 1924 visit.
“Paid homage to Gurudev Tagore in Buenos Aires. We in India take immense pride in his contributions to our history and culture. His emphasis on learning and education is deeply motivational,” PM Modi posted on X.

MEA Spokesperson Jaiswal added that Tagore’s ideas continue to resonate with the people of Argentina.
Respecting Argentina’s National hero
PM Modi laid a wreath at General San Martin’s memorial, honouring Argentina’s national hero.
“Paid homage to General Jose de San Martin in Buenos Aires. His courage and leadership played a pivotal role in Argentina’s history. His life remains a symbol of patriotism and determination for the people of Argentina,” PM Modi stated on X.

MEA noted that a New Delhi road named after General San Martin reflects India’s respect for his legacy and strong ties with Argentina.
Strengthening India-Argentina bilateral relations
A day earlier, PM Modi and President Milei held comprehensive delegation-level talks in Buenos Aires.
The two leaders reviewed current cooperation and committed to enhancing ties in key sectors such as defence, agriculture, mining, energy, and trade.
“Excellent meeting with President Javier Milei of Argentina,” PM Modi wrote on X. “We celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations and 5 years of strategic partnership. The path ahead is even more promising.”

They also discussed expanding cooperation in pharmaceuticals, sports, and commercial trade diversification.
