PM Modi Participates In Yoga Session During Uzbekistan Visit

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined a yoga session organised by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, engaging with participants during the programme.

The session formed part of PM Modi’s two-day State Visit to Uzbekistan, which began on Saturday. His visit has included engagements highlighting the cultural links and growing relationship between India and the Central Asian nation.

PM Modi began his visit with a visit to the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument, where he laid a wreath alongside Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He said the monument represents the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people.

The two leaders later viewed artworks at Yangi Uzbekistan Park depicting Uzbekistan’s culture and history.

PM Modi received a warm reception from the Indian community in Tashkent during his first day in the country.

Community members raised slogans and interacted with the Prime Minister, while some women tied rakhis on his wrist.

Highlighting the role of the diaspora, PM Modi described the Indian community as a ‘living bridge’ connecting India and Uzbekistan.

The Prime Minister further praised a cultural presentation that brought together Indian and Uzbek musical traditions, featuring the tabla with Uzbekistan’s doira and chang instruments.

PM Modi had earlier thanked President Mirziyoyev for personally receiving him at Tashkent airport. He said the gesture reflected the strength of bilateral ties and noted that this is his fourth visit to Uzbekistan.

The Prime Minister will likely hold delegation-level talks with Mirziyoyev during the visit, with discussions expected to cover trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy.
