Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Highlights Krishna Seshadri’s Digital Journey Into India’s History

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the work of Mumbai-based Krishna Seshadri, who has used technology to create an interactive platform that helps people explore India’s history.

During the 137th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi spoke about Seshadri’s website, BharatRajya.com, which allows users to select a particular year and see the rulers or dynasties that controlled different parts of India during that period.

PM Modi said he came across a social media post announcing the project on the occasion of Ashadha Ekadashi and found the concept interesting. He later spoke to Seshadri to understand how the initiative took shape.

Although Seshadri comes from an engineering background rather than technology or history teaching, his longstanding interest in history encouraged him to develop the website. He told PM Modi that his aim was to introduce people to the major empires of India in an accessible way.

The conversation explored Seshadri’s interest in historical figures. Asked which three personalities he would like to meet, he named Chola ruler Rajendra Chola, Hemu and Tribhuvana Mahadevi of the Bhauma-Kara dynasty.

Seshadri said he would like to learn from Rajendra Chola about the architecture of his era. He chose Hemu for his remarkable rise from a trader to a ruler and noted his record of winning 22 of the 23 battles he fought. Tribhuvana Mahadevi was his third choice.

PM Modi praised Seshadri’s deep engagement with history and said he had visited the website himself. He particularly appreciated the facility allowing visitors to suggest changes or corrections to information on the platform.

The Prime Minister urged people to learn more about the initiative and make greater use of technology to explore India’s historical heritage.
