Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Urges Youth To Join Nationwide Fight Against Drug Abuse

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for wider public participation in the nationwide campaign against substance abuse, saying the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ initiative is gathering pace.

Addressing the 137th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi said the campaign seeks to keep young people away from drugs and contribute towards building a drug-free India by 2047. He stressed that addiction can affect families and communities beyond the individual concerned. PM Modi praised those working to spread awareness and support people trying to overcome addiction.

The Prime Minister urged young people, musicians, students, theatre groups and digital creators to use their creativity to strengthen the campaign’s message. He further suggested producing slogans, songs, short plays and social media content in different Indian languages to reach wider audiences.

PM Modi said creative communication can sometimes have a stronger impact than conventional awareness campaigns.

“There is no dearth of excellent content creators in our country,” he said, encouraging them to create material that highlights the dangers of drug use and promotes a drug-free life.

The Prime Minister had launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ virtually on August 2 as a nationwide movement.

The campaign reached more than 28,000 locations across the country and involved over one crore young people.

PM Modi said the participation of youth in the initiative reflects a collective commitment to their health, happiness and future. He urged citizens to contribute in their own way to efforts aimed at preventing substance abuse and protecting India’s younger generation from addiction.
