Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Hails Global Participation In ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the widespread participation in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, saying celebrations around the national flag strengthen people’s bond with the country.

Speaking during the 137th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi said August brings several occasions that reinforce patriotic sentiment, including National Handloom Day, the anniversary of the Quit India Movement, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, Independence Day and National Space Day.

The Prime Minister said the 2026 edition of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ carried added significance as it marked the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’. More than eight crore people uploaded Tiranga selfies as part of the campaign.

PM Modi noted that the celebrations extended beyond India, with Indian missions and posts around the world taking part.

A special initiative, ‘Suryapath Tiranga’, carried the Tricolour across different time zones. The flag was first hoisted in Suva, Fiji, at sunrise before similar celebrations took place at Indian missions and posts across Asia, Africa and Europe, eventually reaching San Francisco in the United States.

The Prime Minister said the sequence created a striking global display as the Indian flag was raised in different parts of the world following the movement of the sun.

PM Modi congratulated citizens, Indian missions and others involved in the celebrations, saying such collective expressions of patriotism help bring society together and strengthen people’s connection with the nation.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign encourages citizens to bring the national flag into their homes and hoist it as part of Independence Day celebrations.
