Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Thursday, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to strengthen cooperation across a range of strategic sectors.

The discussions covered the full spectrum of India-Venezuela relations, with both leaders exploring opportunities to expand collaboration in energy security, trade and investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation and renewable energy.

The meeting reflected the growing importance of the partnership between the two nations and their shared interest in enhancing economic and technological cooperation.

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Rodriguez and praised her longstanding commitment to advancing India-Venezuela ties. He expressed confidence that her discussions with Prime Minister Modi would further strengthen bilateral cooperation and open new avenues for engagement.

Jaishankar said India values Rodriguez’s contribution to strengthening bilateral ties and expects her visit to boost cooperation further.

Rodriguez arrived in New Delhi on a five-day visit aimed at deepening relations.

The Venezuelan delegation will tour energy, pharmaceutical and automobile facilities to explore India’s industrial capabilities and identify new opportunities for collaboration and investment.

The MEA noted that India remains an important partner for Venezuela, particularly in the energy sector.

Indian public sector enterprises have made significant investments in Venezuela and continue to explore opportunities to expand their presence in the country.

India and Venezuela share warm and friendly relations founded on cooperation in energy, trade and their common commitment to the Global South.

Officials expect Rodriguez’s visit to further strengthen bilateral ties and deepen engagement across multiple sectors, reinforcing a partnership that continues to evolve through economic cooperation and mutual interests.
