Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on the centuries-old civilisational links between India and Jordan during a visit to the Jordan Museum in Amman on Tuesday.
In a special gesture symbolising the warmth of bilateral ties, Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II personally drove the Prime Minister to the museum.
The Crown Prince is the 42nd-generation direct descendant of Prophet Mohammad.

Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Vice-Chair of the Jordan Museum, gave the leaders a special tour, offering insights into Jordan’s rich historical and cultural legacy.
Sharing details of the visit, the Ministry of External Affairs described the engagement as a reflection of the shared heritage and enduring connections between the two nations.
The visit highlighted India’s approach of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’ — development alongside heritage — underscoring the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international partnerships.

Expanding Economic and Strategic Cooperation
Earlier in the day, PM Modi addressed the India-Jordan Business Forum in Amman, attended by King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al Hussein. He outlined key areas for deepening cooperation in trade, business and investment, and proposed enhancing bilateral trade to USD 5 billion.

The Prime Minister also called for collaboration between Jordan’s digital payment system and India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), highlighting the role of digital public infrastructure in inclusive growth.
During the visit, India and Jordan finalised several Memoranda of Understanding covering culture, renewable energy, water management, digital public infrastructure and a twinning arrangement between Petra and Ellora.
PM Modi described these outcomes as a ‘meaningful expansion’ of the India-Jordan partnership.
He noted that cooperation in renewable energy reflects a shared commitment to clean growth, energy security and climate responsibility. Collaboration in water resource management, he added, would help both countries exchange best practices to ensure long-term water security.
