Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in 31 bilateral meetings and informal discussions with international leaders during his foreign visit to Nigeria, Brazil for the 19th G20 Summit, and Guyana, spanning from 16 to 21 November.
According to the official statement, PM Modi held a bilateral meeting in Nigeria, followed by 10 bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil. During his visit to Guyana, he conducted 9 additional bilateral meetings.
Nigeria
In Nigeria, PM Modi began the tour with a bilateral meeting with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Brazil
In Brazil, PM Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with the leaders of Brazil, Indonesia, Portugal, Italy, Norway, France, the UK, Chile, Argentina, and Australia.
Notably, five of these meetings marked the first-ever interactions between PM Modi and the following leaders:
- Prabowo Subianto – President of Indonesia
- Luis Montenegro – Prime Minister of Portugal
- Keir Starmer – Prime Minister of the UK
- Gabriel Boric – President of Chile
- Javier Milei – President of Argentina
In addition to the formal bilateral meetings, PM Modi engaged in informal interactions and pull-aside discussions with leaders such as Singapore’s Prime Minister, South Korea’s President, Egypt’s President, the US President, and Spain’s Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also held constructive conversations with leaders of international organizations, including European Union President Ursula von der Leyen, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and IMF officials Kristalina Georgieva and Gita Gopinath.
Guyana
In Guyana, PM Modi conducted bilateral meetings with the leaders of Guyana, Dominica, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, and St Lucia.
On Thursday night, PM Modi completed the final leg of a pivotal trip that began in Nigeria, continued in Brazil for the 19th G20 Summit, and culminated in a historic State visit to Guyana.
