Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for New Delhi after a successful three-day visit to the United States. During the final leg of his visit, Prime Minister Modi held significant discussions with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin from Vatican City. In addition to his discussions with Armenian and Vatican officials, Prime Minister Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This meeting marked their third engagement in just over three months, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between the two leaders. During the talks, Modi reiterated India’s “clear, consistent and constructive” approach in favor of a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. He emphasized the need for diplomacy and dialogue, stating, “We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations.” Modi also expressed India’s support for the early resolution of the conflict and the restoration of peace and stability in the region.
Another significant aspect of Modi’s visit was his meeting with Vietnamese President To Lam. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation between India and Vietnam, particularly in sectors such as trade, connectivity, and cultural exchange. Modi highlighted, “We took stock of the full range of India-Vietnam friendship. We look forward to adding momentum in sectors such as connectivity, trade, culture, and more.” This engagement reflects the multi-pronged strategic partnership that India and Vietnam are fostering, aiming to deepen their ties further in the face of regional challenges.
Before these bilateral discussions, Prime Minister Modi addressed the UN Summit of the Future, where he assured the global community of India’s commitment to working for the rights of all humanity and promoting global prosperity. His remarks emphasized India’s role as a responsible global player dedicated to addressing pressing issues such as climate change, sustainable development, and humanitarian challenges.
