PM Modi Arrives In Seychelles For Three-Day State Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday arrived in Seychelles for a three-day State Visit and began the journey with a warm reception from President Patrick Herminie, senior Ministers and top dignitaries at the airport. He is attending the country’s Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour.

PM Modi thanked the Indian diaspora for their affection and shared glimpses of the welcome on social media.

In a post on X, PM Modi said Seychelles remains a valued maritime partner and a close friend in the Indian Ocean. He said he looked forward to a productive visit that would deepen longstanding ties and expand cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.

Before departing, the Prime Minister said the visit would strengthen maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region. He described Seychelles as a valued maritime neighbour and a key partner in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and Global South initiatives.

During the June 27-29 visit, PM Modi will take part in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles National Day. He will also hold bilateral talks with President Herminie, who visited India in February 2026.

PM Modi will address the Seychelles National Assembly, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.

Prime Minister Modi called the opportunity historic and said it reflects the strong democratic traditions that bind the two nations. He will also meet members of the Indian diaspora, whom he described as a living bridge between India and Seychelles.

The Prime Minister said their generations-long contribution has helped nurture the special friendship between the two countries. He added that the visit would deepen bilateral bonds, strengthen maritime cooperation and advance a shared vision of security and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.
