Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Monday to participate in the G20 Summit, hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Sharing his thoughts on the global platform X, he expressed anticipation for productive discussions. “Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to the Summit deliberations and fruitful talks with various world leaders,” PM Modi posted.
As an active member of the G20 Troika alongside Brazil and South Africa, India continues to shape pivotal discussions at the summit. Building on its leadership from the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and the Voice of the Global South Summits, PM Modi is set to present India’s perspectives on pressing global issues during the event.
The Prime Minister’s schedule includes critical bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Summit. These discussions are expected to bolster India’s partnerships across various sectors.

“On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, the Prime Minister is expected to meet several leaders,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated earlier.
After concluding the G20 engagements, PM Modi will travel to Georgetown, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana since 1968. The November 19-21 visit comes at the invitation of Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, who had visited India last year as the Chief Guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Indore.
During his stay, PM Modi will engage in bilateral discussions with President Ali and other senior Guyanese leaders. His itinerary also includes an address to the Parliament of Guyana and an interaction with the Indian diaspora, underscoring India’s strong cultural and diplomatic ties with the region.
Additionally, PM Modi will participate in the Second CARICOM-India Summit in Georgetown. This gathering aims to deepen India’s cooperation with CARICOM member countries and further strengthen longstanding ties. “The Prime Minister will hold meetings with leaders of CARICOM nations to enhance India’s friendship with the region,” the MEA confirmed.
With his engagements in Brazil and Guyana, PM Modi is poised to reinforce India’s leadership on global and regional platforms while advancing its diplomatic and economic partnerships.
