Pentagon Advances Plans For Limited Ground Action In Iran

The Pentagon is preparing for the possibility of weeks-long ground operations in Iran, according to US media reports, as military activity intensifies across the region.

The developments come amid growing speculation that Donald Trump could consider further escalation in the ongoing conflict.

Reports indicate that any ground mission would likely involve limited operations rather than a full-scale invasion, with Special Operations forces and conventional infantry potentially conducting targeted raids.

Officials have suggested that such plans are already well advanced and not being developed at short notice.

Military experts warn that these operations could expose US personnel to significant risks, including drone and missile attacks, ground fire and improvised explosive devices.

At the same time, the administration has sent mixed signals, alternating between suggesting a de-escalation and hinting at an expanded military response.

Marco Rubio has stated that the United States could meet its objectives without deploying ground troops. However, reports suggest that contingency planning for such operations is ongoing at an advanced stage.

Meanwhile, United States Central Command confirmed that a task force of around 3,500 sailors and Marines has arrived in the region.

The deployment includes personnel aboard the USS Tripoli, which serves as the flagship of an amphibious ready group equipped with aircraft and tactical assets.

The deployment forms part of a broader US military buildup linked to the conflict, with amphibious forces capable of conducting both sea-based strikes and ground operations.

Military forces typically use such units for rapid response missions, including securing strategic locations, carrying out evacuations, and conducting potential coastal assaults.

The evolving situation signals a potentially critical phase in the conflict, with global attention focused on how the United States may proceed in the coming weeks.
