Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf party on Sunday announced plans to rally for the release of founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan after Eid.
During a gathering in Peshawar, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan made the announcement. He affirmed that Imran Khan would be freed from prison. He further cited all cases as political.
As per Dunya News, Barrister Gohar said, “PTI founder’s ideology will win.”
“The independence of the judiciary is necessary. There will be resistance on the streets after Eid,” he added.
Barrister Gohar further stated that the gang occupying the country took away the independence of the judiciary. He pledged to take back the mandate.
As per reports, earlier on Sunday, the party held a street power show to extend support for the autonomy of the judiciary and the release of party founder Imran Khan.
A large number of PTI workers turned up at the protest. They were carrying party flags and banners inscribed with slogans, seeking the release of Imran Khan.
Previously, 6 judges of the Islamabad High Court wrote to the Supreme Judicial Council to convene a judicial convention over the matter of accusing the country’s spy agencies of interfering in judicial matters.
After meeting with Imran Khan on 29 March in Adiala Jail, Gohar Ali Khan said, “The PTI is going to stage a rally for the freedom of the judiciary on the directives issued by the founder of the PTI.”
Imran Khan has been in jail since August last year and just before the February 8 polls, he was sentenced to a 31-year jail term in three different cases. In total, Imran Khan is facing over 200 cases.
