Only A Selfie, No Undercover Work, Says PM Modi On Meeting Fauda Cast In Israel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi briefly stepped away from official engagements during his Israel tour to meet the cast and creators of the acclaimed Israeli series Fauda. The interaction added a cultural dimension to his diplomatic schedule.

On the second day of his visit, the Prime Minister posed for a group selfie with the show’s team. He later posted the photograph on the social media platform with a witty caption.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Thankfully, this interaction required only a selfie, no undercover work! #Fauda“

The image featured PM Modi alongside Fauda’s co-creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff. Cast members, including Laëtitia Eïdo and Doron Ben-David, also joined the frame, along with several crew members.

Lior Raz responded publicly, expressing gratitude and calling the meeting a significant honour.

Social media users reacted enthusiastically. Many described the moment as a refreshing convergence of governance and popular culture.

Commentators highlighted the symbolism of storytelling in strengthening cross-border goodwill.

Fauda draws loose inspiration from experiences associated with the Israel Defence Forces. The narrative follows an elite Israeli undercover unit pursuing Palestinian militants.

The series spans four seasons, each comprising 12 episodes. Its ensemble cast includes Itzik Cohen, Hisham Suliman, Shadi Mar’i, Yuval Segal, Netta Garty, Tomer Kapon, Tsahi Halevi and Yaakov Zada Daniel.

The series commands a substantial following in India. Producers adapted it into Hindi as Tanaav in 2022, further cementing its resonance with Indian audiences.

The episode underscored the commercial and cultural interplay between entertainment and diplomacy.

By engaging with globally recognised content creators, the Prime Minister reinforced soft-power linkages alongside formal statecraft.
