Nepal’s flood and landslide crisis has claimed hundreds of lives, with authorities reporting 675 bodies recovered from affected areas and 2,498 people still unaccounted for.
The Department of Tourism under Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said 753 tourists had lost contact as of 05:30 PM local time on Saturday. Of them, 589 were foreign nationals.
The disaster followed a sudden rise in the Bhote Koshi River, triggering severe flooding and mudslides across parts of the Himalayan nation. Roads, bridges, hydropower projects and other critical infrastructure suffered extensive damage.
Kathmandu’s District Administrative Office has appealed to organisations, institutions, businesses and individuals to contribute relief material for people affected in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts, Xinhua reported.
India has continued its assistance to Nepal, with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announcing the dispatch of a fourth relief flight carrying 11 tonnes of aid.
The Indian Air Force C-130 aircraft is transporting a tunnel technical team and search-and-rescue equipment, forensic experts and DNA analysis equipment, along with blankets, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, plastic sheets and hygiene kits.

Jaishankar said 16 trucks carrying equipment for a 230-foot single-lane modular steel bridge had reached Nepal.
Equipment required to install seven additional Bailey bridges will be supplied shortly, with technical teams expected to arrive soon.
India has so far airlifted 68.5 tonnes of relief supplies to Kathmandu, including medicines, portable generators, food packets, water purification tablets and technical equipment.
Earlier on Wednesday, an IAF C-130J Hercules aircraft delivered 10 tonnes of emergency supplies, including temporary shelters, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps and medicines.
“Our support to the relief and rescue efforts of Nepal continues,” Jaishankar said.
