US President Donald Trump strongly criticised Iran on Thursday, describing it as ‘a nation of terror and hate’ and saying the country was ‘paying a big price right now’.
Trump made the remarks during an event at the White House marking Women’s History Month.
The speech mainly focused on domestic themes, including women’s achievements, working mothers, and economic issues discussed during the event.
However, the president briefly addressed foreign policy and highlighted the ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran during his remarks
Speaking to a packed audience in the East Room of the White House, largely comprising women attending the event, Donald Trump said developments involving Iran were unfolding quickly.
“They really are a nation of terror and hate, and they’re paying a big price right now,” Trump said.
He praised the strength of the US military, saying, “Our military is unsurpassed. There’s never been anything like it.”
Trump said the United States is now taking steps it should have taken earlier.
“We’re doing what has to be done, should have been done,” he added, saying the country could have taken such actions decades ago.
Although he did not provide operational details, Trump said the situation with Iran was moving rapidly and progressing well.
His remarks come as Iran remains a key focus of US national security policy.
Relations between Washington and Tehran have remained tense for decades, particularly over regional influence and nuclear ambitions.
The tensions date back to the 1979 Iranian Revolution, after which successive US administrations imposed sanctions on Iran.
Trump’s remarks highlight Iran’s continued importance in US foreign policy and Middle East strategy.
