Authorities said an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway and crashed while landing at Miami International Airport in Florida, killing five people and injuring five others.
The accident occurred at around 01:58 PM local time on Sunday, Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said during a press conference.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava confirmed that the crash sent five people to the hospital with injuries.

Video footage from the scene showed thick smoke rising from the aircraft as emergency crews responded to the incident.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue deployed more than 60 units and around 200 firefighters to deal with the crash and secure the area.
The FAA said Amazon Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-300, overran the runway while landing at Miami International Airport after departing San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The FAA launched an investigation, while Amazon said it was gathering information.
The crash followed another fatal US aviation accident in Fresno, California, where two people died, and two were injured.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders found a single-engine fixed-wing aircraft on fire on a bluff overlooking the San Joaquin River.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and stopped the flames from spreading to nearby homes.
Four people were aboard the aircraft. Two children died at the scene, while emergency teams rushed two adults to hospital in critical condition. The US National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
