Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asim Munir faced protests by overseas Pakistanis during his US visit, with demonstrators shouting slogans and waving banners outside a Washington hotel.
Videos widely circulated on social media showed demonstrators calling Munir a ‘mass murderer’ and ‘Islamabad ka Qatil’. The protesters chanted slogans such as ‘Shame on you’ and ‘Asim Munir, you are a coward’. They booed him as he arrived at the hotel, embarrassing the visiting general.
PTI supporters join protest
The backlash against the Pakistan Army Chief intensified as the overseas unit of Imran Khan-led PTI joined in. They reshared protest videos, highlighting Munir’s alleged role in human rights violations and democratic suppression.
Taking to X, PTI USA Official posted, “Pakistani-Americans in Washington, DC are protesting outside the Four Seasons hotel, reminding General Asim Munir of the crimes he’s committed against the people of Pakistan.”

Many protesters accused him of acting like a dictator and blamed him for ‘the murder of democracy’.
The demonstrators claimed that Munir’s actions had silenced opposition voices and undermined Pakistan’s democratic institutions. Slogans like ‘When dictators rise, democracy dies’ echoed during the protests.
US denies parade invite rumour
Earlier, reports suggested that General Munir would attend a military parade in the US alongside President Donald Trump. However, the White House denied these claims. A US official clarified, “This is false. No foreign military leaders were invited.”
The Pakistan Army Chief has remained under scrutiny following a controversial speech where he invoked the two-nation theory. His remarks were seen as inflammatory and drew sharp criticism, especially from Indian observers.
His visit to the US was seen as a strategic push by Pakistan amid growing Indian diplomatic influence globally. However, the protests have turned the spotlight back on internal dissent and rising anger among Pakistanis abroad.
