African-American singer Mary Millben on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years in public office, calling him a ‘shining beacon of the Indian dream’.
In a video message, Millben addressed Indians and Indian communities worldwide, describing PM Modi’s journey as an inspiration for generations.
“You are a shining beacon of the Indian dream, and you inspire us all, young and old, to dream big and believe beyond,” she said.
Millben thanked PM Modi for supporting and elevating different sections of society, including soldiers, farmers, women, religious communities, senior citizens, youth and children. She described him as a global leader working towards a healthier, prosperous and equal world.
Acknowledging India’s challenges, Milben urged citizens to set aside political affiliations and celebrate the country’s leadership and achievements. “Let us put aside the BJP and Congress affiliation today and rather unify,” she said.
She praised India’s democratic freedoms and economic opportunities while highlighting Prime Minister Modi’s focus on preserving senior citizens and empowering young people.
Millben further prayed for PM Modi’s continued service and said, “Thank you for 25 years of service, my friend, and may God continue to bless you abundantly.”
PM Modi entered elected government on October 7, 2001, when he became Gujarat Chief Minister. He served as Chief Minister until 2014, when the BJP won the Lok Sabha elections and he became Prime Minister.
Millben’s message came as Prime Minister Modi marked 25 consecutive years in public office, spanning his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and his years as Prime Minister.
