The High Court observed that these circumstances indicated that the marriage registration authority appeared to have registered the marriage of a minor girl with the appellant.
The court directed the concerned officer to appear personally and produce all records on the basis of which the authority verified the victim’s age and registered the marriage.
The court also directed that a copy of the order be sent immediately to the Ghaziabad District Magistrate.
The District Magistrate was asked to ensure that the concerned officer appears personally before the court.
The officer will have to explain how he registered the marriage of a girl whom the trial court had declared a minor.
The court directed that a copy of the order be sent immediately to the Registrar (Compliance) of the High Court.
This was to ensure compliance with the court’s directions. The court will hear the matter next on October 9, 2026.
