Man Sets Women Ablaze In New York Subway, Arrested

In a heinous crime on the subway train of New York City, a man sets a woman ablaze, resulting in her death.  The accused reportedly stayed during the incident around Sunday morning around 7:30 when the train approached the Still Well Avenue station in Brooklyn.

Describing the attack, New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, “As the train pulled into the station, the suspect calmly walked up to the victim, who was seated at the end of a subway car. Using what we believe to be a lighter, the suspect ignited the victim’s clothing, which became fully engulfed in flames within seconds.”

The incident was unveiled when the patrolling officers at the station’s upper level noticed smoke.

“With the assistance of an MTA employee and a fire extinguisher, the flames were extinguished, but unfortunately, it was too late, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” Tisch said.

Interestingly, the suspect remained on the crime scene as officers found him sitting on a platform bench outside the train car.

“After the NYPD released images of the suspect, three high school students called 911, identifying him,” Tisch added.

The suspect was later arrested as officers found a lighter in his pocket. Notably, the accused is an immigrant from Guatemala, who entered the US from Arizona, However,  his immigration status is not clear and is being examined.

The incident drew widespread condemnation. Tech billionaire Elon Musk posted on X, “Enough is enough.”
