JAAC Announces Long March To Muzaffarabad Over Crackdown In PoJK

The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which has been spearheading anti-government protests across Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), has announced a Long March to Muzaffarabad on July 15, 2026.

The recent development came amid the expiry of its ultimatum to the Pakistan government over the release of detained leaders, implementation of its charter of demands and an end to the ongoing security crackdown.

The organisation said convoys from multiple districts will converge on Muzaffarabad if its demands remain unmet. It has also indicated that after July 14, the agitation could expand beyond its existing 38-point charter, signalling a broader political movement.

The committee’s core demands include the release of arrested JAAC leaders and activists, withdrawal of the security crackdown, restoration of communication services, implementation of the previously agreed 38-point charter, improved political representation and governance reforms, and better access to electricity, food supplies and other essential services.

The planned march will likely mark a significant escalation in the ongoing agitation and could intensify political instability across PoJK while posing a challenge to Pakistan’s administrative control. It may also attract sustained domestic and international attention if met with force.

Large-scale mobilisation is anticipated from Rawalakot, Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh and other districts, with the possibility of widespread shutdowns and transport disruptions.

Pakistani authorities have reportedly reinforced security around Muzaffarabad and are likely to prevent protesters from entering the capital, increasing the likelihood of confrontations.

With recent fatalities, arrests and the continuing crackdown, the possibility of further clashes between protesters and security forces remains high if negotiations fail.
