Three members of the Lebanese Civil Defense were killed, and two others were wounded in an Israeli drone strike on southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military sources.
The sources, who spoke to Xinhua news agency on condition of anonymity, reported that an Israeli drone launched an air-to-ground missile at a group of Civil Defense personnel. The team was responding to a fire caused by a prior Israeli airstrike in Wadi Froun, a border area in southern Lebanon, on Saturday.

The sources identified the victims as Abbas Hammoud, Muhammad Hashem, and Qassem Bazzi. They transported the bodies to a hospital in southern Lebanon.
Additionally, the sources reported that Israeli warplanes and drones conducted six raids on Saturday targeting four border towns and villages in southern Lebanon. Israeli artillery also shelled nine villages and towns in the eastern and central regions, firing 35 shells and causing several fires and material damage.
Tensions between Lebanon and Israel heightened on October 8, 2023, after the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel in support of Hamas’ attack on the previous day. In response, Israel fired heavy artillery towards southeastern Lebanon.
