Israeli Airstrikes Target Hezbollah Strongholds In Lebanon

Israeli warplanes launched approximately 60 airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern and eastern Lebanon, according to anonymous sources within the Lebanese military. The strikes, described as the most intense since October 8, involved the deployment of around 150 air-to-ground missiles. The sources indicated that the extent of casualties and damage caused by these air raids remains unclear.

The Israeli military confirmed that its Air Force targeted “100 rocket launchers, consisting of approximately 1,000 barrels.” After hours of strikes that commenced in the afternoon, the Israeli military announced the completion of the operation just before midnight.

During the hostilities, Lebanese sources reported that approximately 50 Katyusha rockets were launched from southern Lebanon into northern Israel. This exchange of fire follows two consecutive days of deadly explosions in Lebanon, allegedly carried out by Israeli forces, resulting in at least 37 fatalities and 2,931 injuries.

These developments mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict along the Israel-Lebanon border, which reignited on October 8, 2023. The conflict began when Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel in solidarity with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, prompting Israeli retaliatory artillery fire and airstrikes on southeastern Lebanon. The ongoing violence has already led to heavy casualties and displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides.
